Today we learned a little bit about Drum Circles and we experimented (if you can call it that) with same.  The funny thing about Drum Circles is that they have the look and feel of something very ancient, but the current Drum Circle practices really date only back to the 1980’s.  Any resemblance to drumming in ancient times is (probably) coincidental.

Yet it fosters a great sense of community without the need for verbal communication.  That is important because as soon as humans open their mouths, they often start insulting or alienating someone else in the room.  With the Drum Circle, you can transcend politics and even religion.  As the shared cacophony proceeds, differences between people can seem to vanish in significance.  So, we experimented with some shared cacophony.
